Washington, UT - Our beloved Jean Holt Miller passed on to our Heavenly Father's presence on June 28, 2010. Jean has bravely fought cancer and its debilitating effects for the last 6 years, with her husband constantly by her side. She passed peacefully away at home surrounded by her loving husband of 53 years, her children and grandchildren. Jean was born on April 26, 1938 to Wilford Milton and Olive Webb Holt. She was raised in Gunlock, Utah, graduated from Dixie High School and attended Dixie College. She married William LaMar Miller on June 7, 1957 in Gunlock, Utah. On October 6, 1977, they were sealed for time and eternity in the St. George LDS Temple. Jean spent a wonderful life growing up in Gunlock, Utah with her parents and loving grandparents. Jean loved the outdoors, having learned her excellent hunting, horsemanship, and outdoor skills at an early age from her father. Jean could be found every October at the family deer hunting camp. Jean has lived in Washington, Utah since her marriage and has loved doing yard work and keeping her home and yards attractive and beautiful. She co-founded LeJeans Draperies in the early 1970's and spent over 35 years as an interior designer, specializing in window and wall treatments. Many of her exquisitely sewn window coverings are still found hanging in homes in the St. George area. Jean was also locally famous for her wonderful homemade candies. Jean loved to travel with her husband LaMar, having made many trips throughout the world. Jean was an avid 4-wheeler, being very adept at keeping up with LaMar. She loved spending time at the family cabin on Kanarra Mountain. Jean and LaMar have traveled to many places in their RV. They have enjoyed many trips with their friends, children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and she loved spending time with them. Jean loved to serve others. Very seldom would one find her relaxing in a chair. She was always working, which is something she found great joy in doing. She performed many acts of unselfish, anonymous service to others and was a wonderful example of Christ-like living. Jean is survived by her husband, LaMar of Washington, Utah; parents Milt and Olive Holt of Gunlock, Utah, sister Millie (Joe) Sanders of Forest Grove, Oregon, children Kendall (Dana) and Russell (Chris) of St. George, Utah; and seven grandchildren. The family would like to extend special thanks to Jean's dear friends and caregivers, Nely Figueroa and Ruby Parry for their loving service to her over the last several years. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at the Washington Main Street Chapel, 82 North Main, Washington, Utah. Visitations will be on Thursday, July 1st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah and on the morning of the funeral from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be in the Washington City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
