Milt Holt

Gunlock, Utah - Milt Holt, age 95, of Gunlock, Utah peacefully passed from this life on November 11, 2012. Milt was born September 28, 1917 in Gunlock, the oldest of six children of Wilford and Blanche Holt. Milt met the love of his life, Olive Webb in Gunlock. They were married June 1, 1937. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple. Their marriage of more than 74 years was blessed with two beautiful daughters.

Growing up in Gunlock, Milt developed skills as a hunter and trapper, skills he later turned into a successful career as a professional guide and outfitter. As a mountain lion hunting guide, Milt entertained clients from many parts of the world. Milt's hunts were featured in Field & Stream magazine and outdoor adventure films.

While not on the trail of a big cat, Milt developed and operated a successful rock quarry and decorative stone business. Milt and Olive created beautiful clocks, bookends, pet rocks, and other enduring rock creations that continue to grace many homes today. Milt's artistic and creative nature can also be found in countless pieces of metalwork created in his welding shop. Humor, a significant part of Milt's character, was often infused into his metalwork. Through humor, incredible wit, and a love of people, Milt had the rare ability to lift and enlighten the lives of the hosts of people who visited his workshop.

Milt was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Sunday School and as bishop of the Gunlock Ward.

Milt is survived by his daughter, Millie (Joe) Sanders of Forest Grove, Oregon; a brother, Gerald Holt of St. George; 11 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren,;and one great, great grandchild. Milt was preceded in death by his wife Olive and daughter Jean (LaMar) Miller, parents Wilford and Blanche Holt, brothers Andy, Merlin, and Ken, and sister Bernice (AW) McGregor.

Milt will always be fondly remembered by family and his many friends for his rugged love of the outdoors, his irreverent wit and humor, his love of young people, and his love of family. Our family wishes a sincere THANK YOU to all those who assisted with Milt's good and thoughtful care in the last few years of his life, including sincere Home Teachers, friends, neighbors, and his wonderfully dedicated homecare givers.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gunlock LDS Ward Chapel, 733 North Main Street, Gunlock, Utah. REUNION!!!!!!

Hey everyone!  Since I am not on face book, I have a question for everyone.  I am helping out with the family breakfast.   I am thinking of doing breakfast burritos and fruit and juice.  Does anyone have a camp stove and or pans that we can cook the breakfast with.  I don't know if we will be driving or flying so I need you guys that won't be traveling from out of state to help with cooking stoves and utensils.  Thank you.  Leave a comment and let me know.  Thanks.
